KBBF Underwriting: Investing in Bilingual Community Radio
Broadcast Signal and Demographics
KBBF’s enviable antenna location atop the South Peak of Mt. St. Helena in Napa County gives us a wide broadcast footprint. Our programming reaches the major cities in Napa, Sonoma, and Mendocino Counties, as well as many of the cities in the San Francisco Bay area and approaching Sacramento.
The population residing within KBBF’s principal broadcast area is diverse and widely distributed. The US Census of 2010 finds a total population of 5.3 million, including a Latino or Hispanic component approaching 1.2 million — and these are just the residents counted by the census!
Benefits of Underwriting
KBBF’s underwriting announcements are on-air recognition for the contributions made by you, your business or organization. They let KBBF’s audience know that you support the information and cultural programs that KBBF brings to the community in an entertaining and accessible way. In short, it tells the listener that you care about and respect the needs of the Spanish and Bilingual communities as much as KBBF does.
KBBF’s underwriting announcement will clearly identify the donor business organization, giving a neutral description of products, services, etc.; recognized corporate “official slogan” that identifies the company; the address of business location(s), and/or a Web site address and/or a phone number; the organizational mission; and the length of time the company has been in business.
Policy and Regulation
KBBF is a non-commercial, educational radio station, so our underwriting announcements have to be in line with Federal Communication Commission (FCC) guidelines. In general, underwriting messages identify the donor in an informational tone and style.
Specifically, KBBF underwriting announcements may not contain calls to action, such as “visit” or “stop by”; superlative description or subjective statement about a company, its products or its services, such as “the best...” or “the largest...”; price or value information, including interest rates; or other inducements to buy, such as “on sale” or “recommended by....”.
KBBF will assist our underwriters in developing copy that conforms to KBBF’s guidelines and successfully communicates the underwriter’s message.
We offer rates on a per-announcement basis, with significant discounted rates for high numbers of announcements. The rates vary depending on whether your organization is a member of KBBF, as well as the time of day that the announcements are aired. All your funding support represents a valuable investment in not only our shared community but also the underwriters and, of course, independent public radio.
Please take a look at the rates below, and contact us to find out how you can participate in KBBF’s underwriting program. Our office phone number is (707) 545-8833. Or send us an email at email@example.com.
